In the peaceful tree-lined streets of Templestowe, our family-owned cafe and restaurant has been transporting Melbourne’s locals and visitors to the street corners of Athens for over 40 years.

Melissa comes from the Greek word ‘Honey Bee’, an appropriate name given by founders Nick and Soula Katsakis, that reflects our home’s buzzing and bustling hive of activity. Expect to be welcomed and fed like one of the family, any day of the week and any time of the day. From morning until late in the night, our breakfast, lunch and dinner menus will nourish you with specialties from our homeland, using natural ingredients and old family recipes passed down through many generations. Tuck into avocado on toast pimped up with pomegranate and harissa, saucy moussaka, fresh grilled fish and perfectly cooked lamb. And that’s just the beginning.

In true Greek fashion, we believe no meal is complete without a sweet ending, which is where our freshly baked cakes and pastries come into play. Allow us to indulge you in traditional baklava and Galaktboureko (a crispy filo pastry filled with impossibly creamy custard), mirror glazed tarts and other flakey, buttery showstoppers.

Today the delicious legacy of Melissa has been passed onto Nick and Soula’s sons, George and Angelo. After all these years, our eatery continues to be one of Melbourne’s warmest and friendliest nooks to sit with friends and family over coffee, soulful food and great conversation. We can’t wait to see you soon.
